As Nasrudin’s son picked up the pieces the Mullah entered the room. Quickly the son his the pieces behind his back. He asked, "Tell me father, why do people die."

For a full half hour Nasrudin expounded on change, impermanence and other things philosophical. He ended his discourse by saying, "Ultimately, my son, people die because it’s their time to die."

At this his son brought the pieces of the cup forward and showing them to his dad said,  "My father, I believe it was the time for your cup to die."
